Speaker stands setup

Unfold the Legs

Set speaker stands on both sides of the stage or audience area, about head-height.

  • Loosen the leg collar knob near the base. Gently spread the three legs until they form a stable triangle. Tighten the knob securely once the legs are evenly spread.

🔐 Tip: The wider the leg spread, the more stable the stand will be.

Set the Height

  • Locate the center telescoping pole.
  • Loosen the height adjustment knob (middle of the stand).
  • Raise the pole to your desired height—usually about 5 to 6 feet for most events.
  • Align the pinholes and insert the locking safety pin to secure the position.
  • Retighten the adjustment knob to hold the pole in place.

⚠️ Always use the safety pin—it prevents accidental drops if the knob loosens.

Mount the Speaker
  • Lift your PA speaker (e.g., QSC CP8) and carefully slide it onto the pole.
  • Ensure its fully seated and balanced on the stand.
  • Double-check that the legs are still secure and level.

💡 Pro Tip: Get a second person to help lift the speaker safely, especially for heavier models.

  1. Final Safety Check
  • Make sure all knobs are tight.
  • Check that the safety pin is properly inserted.
  • Wiggle the stand slightly to confirm its stable.
Mixer and power strip setup
  • Remove the mixer and power cord from the case.
  • Place the mixer on a table or accessible surface near power.
  • Plug the power to a power source, do NOT power on the power strip.
  • Connect the mixer power cord to the back of the mixer.
  • Connect the other end to the power strip.
Connect the Microphone
  • Plug the wired microphone into Level 1(top left) of the mixer using an XLR cable.
(If using wireless, plug the receiver’s output into the mixer instead.)
Connect the Mixer to the Speakers
  • Connect the main outputs (Left and Right) (top right in the blue square) of the mixer to each powered speaker using XLR cables.
  • On the speaker, connect the XLR to gain A/C.
  • Make sure speaker volumes are turned all the way down before powering on.
🎵: Connect Music Source
  • For background music:
    • Connect the RCA cable to level 5/6 on the mixer
    • Connect a phone or laptop to the RCA using the desired connector.
    • Adjust that channel’s volume and EQ as needed.
🔌: Power On
  1. Plug in all power cables (mixer, speakers, wireless mic receivers, if used).
  2. Turn on mixer first, then turn on the speakers.
    • This avoids pops or spikes that could damage the system.
Set Gain and Levels
  • On the speaker:
    • Slowly turn up the volume on the back of the speaker half way to 12 o’clock position.
  • On the mixer:
    • Set the main output level (bottom right RED knob) to halfway to 12 o’clock position.
    • Slowly raise the level volume for the microphone.
    • Adjust the gain knob (if available) until the signal is strong but not clipping.
Test and Fine-Tune
  • Do a mic check.
  • Walk the room to listen for coverage.
  • Adjust EQ for clarity (cut low frequencies for speech, boost highs slightly if needed).
  • Avoid pointing mics at the speakers to prevent feedback.
✅ Final Tips
  • Tape down loose cables to prevent tripping.
  • Keep drinks away from speakers, mixer and power strip.
  • Perform a full sound test before guests arrive.
